Brilliant Activities for Reading Comprehension, Year 5

Brilliant Activities for Reading Comprehension (3rd edition) is a six book series for Years 1 to 6 containing engaging, enjoyable texts to help primary school children to develop their reading comprehension skills. ?The passages gradually increase in difficulty as you progress through the book and through the series, encouraging children to develop their ability to read for meaning and use a range of strategies to engage with the text. Throughout the series, pupils are exposed to a range of genres, from newspaper articles and descriptive reports, to plays, stories and poems. Over a third of the passages in the 3rd edition are new, including many non-fiction pieces linked to the history curriculum. The questions for all the passages have been completely rewritten, to link more closely to the reading content domains and to ensure a mixture of short and long question types.
