Girl in a Band

In Girl in a Band Kim Gordon, a founding member of Sonic Youth and role model for a generation of women, tells her story. She writes frankly about her route from girl to woman to pioneering icon within the music and art scene of New York City in the 1980s and 90s, as well as marriage, motherhood, and independence. Filled with the sights and sounds of a changing world and a remarkable life, and updated with a new chapter by the author, Girl in a Band is a moving, evocative chronicle of an extraordinary artist. This tenth anniversary edition also includes a new foreword by Rachel Kushner. ‘A fascinating and honest memoir, full of raw emotion and insight.’ Sofia Coppola ‘So much more than a rock biog, Girl in a Band is a unique record of the past fifty years of alternative culture.’ NME ‘This memoir is a kind of setting ablaze of a life’s work that, for Gordon, is now inextricable from heartbreak.’ Guardian
