IMMEDIATE

In 1965, Andrew Loog Oldham, the outrageous teen tycoon manager and producer of The Rolling Stones, formed Immediate Records, the UK’s fi rst major independent label. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Nico, Steve Marriott, Rod Stewart, John Paul Jones, Scott Walker, Small Faces, The Who, Eric Clapton, The Kinks and Fleetwood Mac all recorded for Immediate. At the heart of the label that dominated the late-60s London scene was Loog Oldham and co-conspirator Tony Calder: “Our attitude towards the business in the UK was ‘Fuck Them All’, they were all old men."
