In an effort to settle down, gambler Tom Calvert and his young protege, Asher Smith, complete a long and arduous journey to Friendly Field. This Quaker community welcomes them with open arms, and soon Tom takes it upon himself to become a sort of lawman for them - as peaceful, nonviolent folk, they have no one to defend them. Then an elder of Friendly Field turns up dead, and the townsfolk start whispering of witchcraft. Tom and Asher must solve a gruesome crime before the community of Friendly Field becomes a blood bath.
